Two chimps sniffing on what?

A juvenile and an adult (female?) are sniffing on a branch. There are four vertical branches that do not look naturally at all. One bigger piece and three smaller ones. The adult displays a small twitch in ACP000cigb. Is it human-made and if yes, snare? It does look as if made for recognition.

The twigs seem to me broken by humans. In my experience, people leave such signs in order to keep track of the path when passing through the forest. The chimps in this clip could be smelling that. I can't say about snare presence.. but seems unlikely since a camera trap is placed right there.. 😃

Thanks! Yes, I went meanwhile through the bigger part of the camera sequence, there are animals around all the time and some are sniffing, but no one really cares, also not the field team.
Well, he doesn't like it: ACP000cimz
