Tag species on talk page

When I identify let's say a zebra duiker in the interface, is it necessary / useful to also go to the talk page and set the hashtag tag for it there too or is that just doing the same thing twice?

    Hi @sascha1es

Thanks for checking! the tags are a 2nd source of data for us so they are always useful! BUT in cases where its a clear zebra duiker its not really worth it to tag it since probably everyone will select zebra duiker. If its a slightly confusing case where you think others might tag it wrong then certainly tagging it if you are sure helps!

The most important animals to tag are those within broad categories; anything that falls into other (non primate) or other (primate) for example.

Some further tips for when it's useful to tag a video
    (from: https://talk.chimpandsee.org/#/boards/BCP0000007/discussions/DCP0000qsg):

    • it's a chimp
    • it's a species that doesn't have its own category in classification (e.g. monkeys and primates, all the species that fall into other (non-primate), birds, etc.) and you can ID the correct species
    • it has multiple species or other interesting features (see list below)
    • the video is an especially good/clear example of a species, or if the species is rare
    • you can't ID the animal (use #need_ID in a comment by itself that can be deleted after identification)
    • you've identified the animal, but the ID was especially hard

Thanks so much for participating! Let us know if you have any other questions 😃
