  It is not easy to curate a collection like you suggested, that's why we work with a hashtag group. Videos with an unclear species get the hashtag #need_ID and are collected in this tag group.

  When a species could be determined, we just can delete this hashtag and the video is gone from the collection. That way, more (in fact: all) people can contribute. I guess that is quite similar to your idea.
