Using a tool?

    As the mother reacts to something (camera perhaps) it appears she might be using a tool to help get at food. What do people think?

    Yes, it does appear she is manipulating an object and possibly using a tool, though we can't really tell for sure from the angle. As for when she looks up, it's difficult to tell whether she's reacting to a sound she heard or whether she's just "taking a break" from what she was doing. What we can see is that her facial expression and body posture are relaxed, so she doesn't appear to look up with alarm or be on high alert.
