White-crested bittern?

  I thought this was a white-crested bittern, but now I'm not so sure. Does anybody know?
  Hope I didn't incorrectly hashtag it!

  I don't know the ID for sure, but I think you're probably right. The appearance matches, including the darker upper bill. It's hard to see any of the barring or stripes, but that could be the lighting. The distribution, habitat, and nocturnal nature fit, also.

  We haven't seen this species before, I don't think, so the hashtags are good. Nice find. 😃
