    affenspiel first spotted this long, thin green snake, can anybody confirm the species? I suspect might be western green mamba?

    Not an expert, but I agree that it looks like a green mamba. I also thought maybe a bush snake, based on the green/black coloration, but I don't know if they get as long as this one appears to be.

    I just came upon this snake video too. It's amazing how strong the snake's muscles are that they can stand straight up like that!

    Mambas can raise a large part of their body off the ground. Black mambas can raise more than half their body length up: they are apparently prone to strike at one's head 😦
    (I am a touch phobic about snakes, but my daughter likes watching Steve Backshall !)
