Another video to go with the ones already posted. If this one comes after the mating episode, could he be cleaning himself up?

    This is actually earlier than the other ones and I'm not sure there was any actual mating involved. Here's the full sequence in timestamp order: ACP000421u ACP000421v ACP000421w ACP000421x ACP000421q ACP000421r ACP000421s ACP000421t ACP0004216 ACP0004217 ACP0004218 ACP0004219 ACP0004212 ACP0004213 ACP0004214 ACP0004215 ACP000420y ACP000420z ACP0004210 ACP0004211 ACP000420q ACP000420s ACP000420t

These span from 2013-12-25, 15:56-16:02, with 15:59 missing.

I thought at the beginning of http://talk.chimpandsee.org/#/subjects/ACP0004216 they seem to beak off from copulation, but maybe not?

It does look like that, but when compared to ACP000421t, immediately prior, all you can see is that he looks to his left (right of frame) at something coming, presumably the female and infant. Here's a tag group for #MF7Male02: CCPL00004c

I agree with tsering but it's weird that their doesn't seem to be a video of the copulation. Maybe she was just presenting and he was ultimately more interested in eating.

He probably plays a lot of video games and lives in his parents' basement 😉

Hm, a closer look at some of the other videos (such as ACP000420z ) seem to show him ahem ready to mate/recently having mated, so maybe there are just some clips missing here (perhaps the researchers already isolated that section).

Science team, correct me if I'm wrong!

From what I've gathered, the cameras do not record continuously. They trigger(motion, IR, something) and record for one minute. Then they don't trigger for some length of time, I've noticed gaps of 1-5 minutes depending on the camera.

I imagine this is done to avoid filling up the memory cards of the cameras too quickly, much better to get every other minute than have the storage on the camera fill up months before you can get to it again and get the data.

There's probably also some actual technical limits involved, if the videos are recorded faster than the camera can write the data, they do have to pause.. Not for minutes at a time, but unfortunately we can't have high quality, no gaps video from a camera that can survive being left out in the jungle for years. I'd go for higher resolution data over constant video, anyways. 😃

    Hi @Quia,

I placed your post on the `Questions for the Science Team´ board, if you don´t mind.

I am not very good at these technical issues 😭

    Thanks!

In this case, the timestamp at the beginning of each one-minute interval shows that the only "missing" minute is 15:59 (3:59PM). For some reason, the upload order is reversed from the timestamp order, so I've listed them in timestamp order earlier.
