Adult male -- CDMale03

    A bit from the distance, but nice face shot. Straight brow, narrow face, gray beard (more on the sides), big nostril. Dark, robust male. Gray lower back (hardly seen). All limbs seem to be present. ACP0004zod

    I am not really familiar with the males now, but I need to start somewhere and propose a match of CDMale03 and CDMale05 because of similar body build and grayness at lower back. Narrow face with rounder brows, big nostrils (quite round), a lenghty bald spot (not very bih) above the brows and a whitish beard that is more pronounced on the sides. Ears are not well visible in both as they are quite close to the head. Thick fur, round head. The lower lip seems to hang a tiny little bit.

    For the brows: I have to correct myself here a bit. I said above for CDMale03 that he has straight brows. I don't think that they are very straight. Instead, they are a bit curvy, but due to the narrowness it does not look very round. A clear dip the midline is seen.

    After careful consideration, I would like to add CDMale07 to the match. I see the same brows, nostrils, baldness pattern, body build, lips and whitish beard. ACP00057if and ACP00057ig

    I tried not to include too many prospectives together in one match because I was hoping fewer would make it easier for people to agree with me, but no one said anything anyway. 😕

    Anyway, in the other post I suggested CDMale05 = CDMale01 = CDMale01a, and I still believe that's true. I also agree with you that he is CDMale03 and CDMale07.

    I looked into your post, but could not find out where the matches were. Sorry. I did not see your proposal.

    Nevertheless, I looked in the CDMale01 and I cannot really deal with him, I have to admit. His face looks different and most of all, I do not see the bad scars of his left hand/forearm on the males proposed here. At least in CDMale05 and CDMale07, you see the hands and forearm very well and there are no visible scars in my opinion. In CDMale03, it is not such a great video for looking at this, but I cannot see anything in this direction. I also think CDMale01 has a slightly wider face. Not wide as such, but no as narrow as the ones I try to match here.

    Yes, I agree. The light, the open mouth ... Nevertheless, cannot make up my mind over CDMale01. Maybe others have an opinion about that. I really don't know.

    No worries, we have so many videos of males with all different angles and lights. My opinion is still that there are just 2 big males, plus Dodge and Ralph. Did you happen to look into my match proposal for the other male? I said CDMale06 = CDMale04a. (I also think he is in many other videos, which I'd be happy to list, but I thought a small match would be easier to approve than a really big one.)

    I am not confident about either of these things, but I would look into this matches:

    CDMale01 / CDMale04 because of the scars and lighter thumb on his left hand/forearm

    CDMale04a / CDMale06 because of the small ears (I think, there is no bent. They are just small.)

    For your videos:

    ACP00054mf, ACP00054mg, ACP00054mh, ACP00054mi -> not much is seen, but if I have to make a guess: CDMale01 because of the scars

    ACP00057sc -> here I see nothing, could be anyone (also in the earlier videos from this sequence)

    ACP00050c3 (last chimp) -> if I had to make a match, I would match the first chimp to my proposal of CDMale03 / CDMale05 / CDMale07 because of the narrower brows, but again: not much is actually seen

    This is all more a gut feeling. I need to look into that more and hopefully we find some better footage of the males. Or starting to compare the #chimpbutts. I think we have much better footage here. 😉

    I talked about a match between CDMale01 and CDMale04 earlier in this thread: http://talk.chimpandsee.org/#/boards/BCP000000k/discussions/DCP00009by, but decided I didn't see a match because CDMale04 has wrinkles under his left eye that CDMale01 doesn't have, and CDMale04 doesn't have the same pale lips that CDMale01 has (both seen when CDMale04 is up close). I also don't see any scarring on CDMale04, just bright sunlight on his wrist.

    I do however, see a match of CDMale04 to the first chimp from ACP00050c3 because of the mark on his right eyebrow. (I still think the second chimp is CDMale01/CDMale01a/CDMale05/CDMale03/CDMale07, maybe I can make a better case for it later 😃)

    I'm glad you agree with my match of CDMale06 to CDMale04a. I'm not sure if I should start a new thread for him, since I believe he is not CDMale01/CDMale01a/CDMale05/CDMale03/CDMale07 and I think you agree with that. Should we start a different thread for him? I have quite a list of videos I believe are him -- I find him easier to ID than the other male (who in my head I pretend is the older brother 😛)

    As for the rear ends, I'm 100% confident in matching Pearl and Flocke from behind. That was going to be part of my post about Fry/Pearl/Flocke that's still on my to do list. But these big males looks pretty similar from behind to me 😕

    Sorry to make this thread so confusing -- I'm having a hard time following it myself. Hopefully I made some sense?
