    I believe it's CDMale06:

    Then Fry (who I also think is CDMale02, Juv01, Juv02, and Juv03):

Then Pearl and Flocke (who is playing with the previous chimp, so cute!):

    Then Amy and River:

Just putting in a quick agreement for Pearl and Flocke, and Amy and River. The rest I don't know on sight and will have to take a closer look. 😃

    Hi all,

What I can see in this sequence is:

    -male

    -CDFem09a + baby

    -Fem + baby

    -Pearl + Flocke

    -Amy + River

Maybe I miss some video, but I can not find the juvenile. Could you help me please?
    Thank you!

After CDFem09a + baby only comes a young adult (no fem with baby), he is male. Then only Pearl & Flocke.

Between CDFem09a/baby and Amy/River, there are three chimps walking on the ground: a small infant, a young adult male (Fry?), and Pearl. Fry is playing with Flocke and for a second he sort of picks her/him up. Then they all get scared by something and Flocke returns to Pearl. There are only 3 total infants in the sequence: the one with CDFem09a, Flocke, and River.

Just comes to my mind: can the young male adult (possibly Fry) be another offspring from Pearl? They are quite often together and he is kind of playing with Flocke that is - in my opinion - not usually the case for male adults, or? Pearl's age is hard to estimate due to the skin condition, but she is probably not so young anymore. Is that at least possible?

I had thought the exact same thing about Fry (in fact, I think I mentioned it to @Quia a few days ago). My only hesitation is that he's found between Amy and River in http://talk.chimpandsee.org/#/boards/BCP000000k/discussions/DCP0000a3p. Still, I think it's more likely that he belongs to Pearl since there is also another male between Amy and River in that sequence. Maybe later I'll put together the list of videos I found with all three of them 😃

I mean, he is clearly more an adult and also seen alone with other adult males if I remember correctly. So, he can travel at different places within the party. My point (or question) is only related to the fact that he is playing (touching and everything) with Flocke here and I think that Pearl would not be comfortable with this if he is not an older sibling. (But I do not know anything about this. It just came into my mind by watching this.)

For this other discussion: Let's assume it is Fry (I cannot see there much, I have to admit. There is a younger male ...), River is running after Amy, not doing something with Fry or so. River is just passing and not considerably close. So I cannot see any connection there. It is just a traveling party. In that scene here is clearly an interaction and Pearl seems to be ok with it.

Oh, I totally agree with all that about the other scene -- he has no interaction with River at all. I don't think he's Amy's, and I do think he's more likely to be Pearl's. My understanding is that non-kin do sometimes interact with infants in a positive way, so I don't think that alone would mean he's an older sibling, but the repeated close association he has with Pearl and Flocke is what had me thinking. I found this interesting paper about alloparenting (sorry, it's behind a paywall, I'll try to get it to you): http://www.karger.com/Article/Abstract/156117 where they found unrelated juveniles, adolescents and adults interacted positively with infants.

(I'm still working on a list of videos where Fry is with Pearl and Flocke, maybe my next post.)

Maybe the science team will weigh in -- the chimp group I worked with previously had no infants/juveniles so I'm just reporting what I read in that paper. 😃

    Hi all,
the fact that they "play" together doesn't mean that they are relatives, It could be but also it could be not. The juveniles and youngs play more that adults, and probably they spend a lot of time together, so the connection between them could be even even if they are not relatives.
