Female with no temporary ID - possible match to Jean?

  • Boleyn by Boleyn moderator

Recently the females DL1133 and 35 have been getting an ID. When I've seen them at that tree another female came to mind:

Her features can't be seen well but her back and legs are quite distinctive. So I've checked the Jean Tag group, the known chimps list, possible matches list but couldn't find her anywhere.
Once I've mentioned her in the discussion about 4 member families

@iwidness agreed that all these silver legs ladies were the same. So in the mentioned thread you might find some other videos of what I think are all matches to Jean.
This video ACP0006bwk is one from August 2012 and she carries her infant (Dorian?) ventrally as Jean does in November 2012 in ACP0006at9

    Thanks for checking!

Hm, it's really not much seen. In favor are definitely the gray legs and lower back, the protruded straight brows and the ventral infant. There is another chimp on the ground that might be one of her juvs.

What I cannot see is the flat head that I see in Jean. The head form of the female here looks quite normal (means rounder).

I see Jean´s dark face too. I have checked all Jean´s videos, and I think this one is the clearest. As @AnLand says, there´s not much to see here, (when we get good quality, we get no nice face shot 😠 ), but I see Jean´s angular face in her (see sec. 10 in ACP0006bwk).

Well I think I see the same flat head and straight browes as in your best Jean video as well.

To get a better impression I made a printscreen from the very moment she turned her head to the camera.
We cannot see the gray beard in this pic but you can see it clearly at second 3 in ACP0006bwk

I agree with @Boleyn that this looks like Jean. Her still view above shows the flat head, ears that are placed farther back on her head, and her light brow ridge that curves around the side of her eyes. We can also see her pale beard in the video. Her nose area looks flattened like Jean's and she glances at the chimps on the ground, possibly keeping track of her juveniles. The unusually light gray back and legs have not been definitively seen in a different female chimp at Dry Lake have they?

I do not disagree that this is Jean.

But I have a question: I look through the tagged Jean videos (there is one (night) video tagged by a volunteer, so not confirmed.) But I got irritated about something else: ACP00070fx and ACP0006rnz - both videos are from the same day, but their swellings looks differently. Or what do others see?

Despite the distance and quality in ACP00070fx, I think her swellings look quite similar 😕

Thanks for telling @lianderson to confirm his/her tags...I will deeply check our spreadsheet once we are done with Dry Lake.
