Matteo - Injured chimp (left hand/forearm)

  We've seen him already in ACP000b7bj (mentioned by @tina_pixie_). He is a thin male with a crippled left hand and a big white scar above the joint. Might be a snare wound.

  Additionally, @vestigial and I were talking yesterday about this sequence ACP000avg4 and ACP000avg5 - where a male chimp (might be a bit better fed /more robust) is not using his left hand. There is not really seen, what is going on, but it's not deliberate not using as he has difficulties to reach the figs.

  Hooray, I think we have our first match!! @AnLand , what shall we name him? From what I can see you were the first to propose a match here. I agree with the match of CFMale04 with ACP000b720 , ACP000b722 , ACP000b724 , ACP000b726, and ACP000b6ur , and also with ACP000asw2, ACP000asw5, ACP000asw8, ACP000aswa . In these videos we can see the bulbous area of the left forearm where it appears to have been broken, the limp hand often bent backwards, the complete ears and rounded browridge... I think there's no question!

  For ACP000avg4 and ACP000avg5 however I'm not really convinced. This individual seems more robust than CFMale04 , and if I'm not mistaken, there doesn't appear to be a left hand at all! If I'm not mistaken, the right ear doesn't appear to be completely intact (someone mentioned some folding?). What do others think... should we assign it a prospective code name? Or are @AnLand and @vestigial convinced this is the same chimp?

  For ACP000avg4 and ACP000avg5: no, I am not sure at all. I think, we should keep him in mind. We always can add him later or discover another match for him.

  This also looks like Matteo (CFMale04). The clips are dark, so no perfect screenshots, but he's a younger dark chimp who uses his left hand only for support. When seen, it has the large white swollen area: ACP000b33v | ACP000b33w | ACP000b33x | ACP000b33y

  I agree the chimp in ACP000avg4 and ACP000avg5 may not be Mateo. AnLand and I discussed that he might not even have a hand it it does look like he uses him arm for balance by sticking it out rather then using it to steady himself on things like Mateo.

  The forehead is bald in a square fashion from what can be seen from the front and side, the ears are close to the head and appear to have no scars, the sex is thus far unknown, though my guess is female due to a thinner frame, age probably adult

  Hi @hoothoot,

  I am not sure how @northernlimitptv wants to handle it, but other scientists want to give temporary IDs themselves. It is great to post the chimp here, but wait for the temporary ID by the scientists. It can get messy if somebody else writes a posting at the same time as you and you both use the same ID for different chimps ...

  But, no problem at all. @northernlimitptv will sort it out - probably tomorrow.

  I believe so! We don't have much to go on here but I really think that it's unlikely to see a second injury just like Matteo's (even if snare injuries appear to be commonplace here at Cold Fire 😦 ). I'll add the first two videos of the three to his list (since we don't see anything in the 3rd).

  ACP000b75x and ACP000bai1 are Matteo -- he's not using his left arm, but he's not as robust as Porter and he has more baldness to his lower back too. For comparison, some butt shots of Matteo: ACP000b6ur ACP000b9nh ACP000b64g. And some butt shots of Porter: ACP000bb7w ACP000avrh.

  ACP000b6o0 and ACP000bb64 should be Matteo as well: slim build, lots of balding to the lower back.
