Actually take a really close look, he/she came with more than 1 nut. He/she flicks off a leaf and puts a nut down, that is why he/she starts hammering 😃 the chimps will often go collect several/many nuts and bring them to there hammering site and then get to work 😃

    still 5 - no nut: https://static.zooniverse.org/www.chimpandsee.org/subjects/570d01f33fc33c0001be7c1f/previews/570d01f33fc33c0001be7c1f_5.jpg

still 6 - the nut is there now: https://static.zooniverse.org/www.chimpandsee.org/subjects/570d01f33fc33c0001be7c1f/previews/570d01f33fc33c0001be7c1f_6.jpg

I first thought so too: that the guy had a nut in mouth and one in hand, but with the first try it looked like enthusiatic starting with the hammering than looking for shells and nut, than taking the nut out of the mouth. I wasnt sure, if the first short searching for the nut on the ground wasnt only a learned gesture or nut-exceptation ... but nut or no nut ... they are so great in doing!

P.s. and for sure you are right 😉 but is was such a good story 😄
