Identifiable chimps at Aged Violet

  Hello all,

  Nuria and I have been checking the chimp video list from Aged Violet, and we have produced a list of videos with what we think could be identifiable chimps that have not been identify yet.

  We would like to discuss with you if those chimps are "new" or if they are a match with any of the known or prospective chimps that are already in the PROSPECTIVE / KNOWN CHIMPS list.

  I am going to paste the list here, but I think would be easier if we open a new discussion for each video sequence or for each proposal.

  Let's see if we identify some of these chimps!

  Don't be scared, many of them come from the same sequence. (the number after the video name is the sequence number, so for example ACP000gnpqand ACP000gnpr are first and second video from the sequence number 15)

  To help a bit, I created some tag groups that might facilitate finding videos of certain age groups and males / females to compare. These videos contain known and prospective chimps as well as these new videos. I will try to update the list and the collections regularly.

  • Videos from adult female chimps from Aged
    Violet

  • Videos from adult chimps carrying an infant from Aged
    Violet

  • Videos from adult male chimps from Aged
    Violet

  • Juveniles at Aged Violet. Please note that juveniles ("youth") of very
    different ages are included in this collection. You need to pay
    attention to body size for
    comparisons.

  ACP000ft8f 0017_0 - is Makena and already confirmed. I am not sure why it is here in this list. Maybe I'm missing something about the list?

  Hi all,

  just in case that it is not totally clear how to proceed here: please look into the list above that @PauDG provided (and also in the collection of @jwidness) and - if you think that you found a match - please start a new discussion at the Aged Violet discussion board indicating that you want to discuss a "possible match of video ACP000XYXY and chimp AVFemZZ"

  This posting (scroll down for the most comprehensive explanation) tells you how to post pictures of the chimps you want to discuss.

  In that way everybody can discuss easily with you about that - hopefully successful!- proposal.
