Infants names

    Hi all,

    we are done Aged Violet and we will like now to select names for the infants.

    Here a list, with links to their videos (Tag Group)

    • AVInf02 (Makena's infant)
    FEMALE / INFANT / #AVInf02 / AVInf02 Tag Group -> Gilly

    • AVInf04 (Etta's infant)
    FEMALE / INFANT / #AVInf04 / AVInf04 Tag Group -> Daisy

    • AVInf09 (Raj's infant)
    FEMALE / INFANT / #AVInf09 / AVInf09 Tag Group -> Marygold

    • AVInf07 (Taiga's infant)
    FEMALE (?) / INFANT / #AVInf07 / AVInf07 Tag Group -> Penny

    • AVInf05 (Sekai's infant)
    FEMALE / INFANT / #AVInf05 / AVInf05 Tag Group -> Nahema

    I would like to ask first to @MARGILL , @pickle777 and @Orohena to name one if the infants because they helped with this site but haven't chosen a name yet.

    Please @MARGILL, @pickle777 and @Orohena, let us know which name for which infant you would like to choose.

    It seems that @pickle777 and @Orohena are not active any more, so I am going to ask other volunteers. I hope they come back and can select other names very soon 😉

    Wow! Honoured to have also been asked. Are there any guidelines? e.g. in some research projects, offspring take on a name of the same letter as others in their family. Would it be appropriate to honour local people / givers of time / resources to the project?

    Hi Nicklenackletree,

    There is no rule or guideline, the only condition is that it can not be repeated (here a list of the names that we have already used).

    Some people select names with special meanings, names of their children, in other languages (Swahili mostly I would say) or with no meaning at all, so feel very free to chose the name you like.

    Paula invited me to name a chimp, and I feel so honored! I'd like to name AVInf09 (Raj's infant) "Marygold" (she spells it with a y) after a smart and interesting friend of mine. I like how this chimp inquisitively watches her mother crack nuts.

    Thanks so much, an honour indeed and very unexpected! It has been my privilege being able to assist primate research from the other side of the world through Zooniverse!

    I would like to nominate the name Penny for a female chimp. This is in recognition and honour of my mother who tirelessly supported me in my study of captive chimpanzee behaviour.

    Is Penny too close to Penelope - another chimp elsewhere? If so, might Penny-Ann work?
