Jelani - Lion at aged-violet?

  • MDrass by MDrass

Hi, I'm new to ChimpandSee. Saw this cat at aged-violet. I called it a lion because it looks so big but I didn't know there were lions in the forest. Very exciting to see this cat and would like to know what it is. Thanks.

Hey @MDrass, yup, its a leopard, hard to see the spots from a distance. the video before shows it ACP000fhx2 (the clips are in sequence so you can find the other 3 clips for that one) All are a minute broken into 4. I'm kinda new also so I'm not too sure how to search for them. I only know because I had the same clip last week 😃

Hi! It's actually a normal colored, but nevertheless impressive leopard. As @squish5 said, you can see him better at ACP000fhpj.

To find the other videos belonging to this sequence, you just change the video ID (e.g., ACP000fhpl) in your browser. The order is 0-9; a-z

That means, you have here ACP000fhpj and change the last letter in the ID -> forward: ACP000fhpk ACP000fhpl ACP000fhpm backward: ACP000fhpi ACP000fhph ACP000fhpg The four videos belonging together are always in the same order, but other sequences can scramble in between, so it might be that you have to search a little bit for them. I hope that makes it a little bit clearer.

@squish5: These are in fact two sequences. We need to check whether ACP000fhpj and ACP000fhx2 are indeed the same leopard. What do you think?

Thanks @AnLand, I was just using the search bar sorry. Its the same leopard for sure. Just below the left hip there a paw type pattern present.
I have two png pics saved in ms paint with the area marked. Will post as soon as I figure it out lol

Wow, good job! That pattern looks a match to me, though I have not really been following the leopard ID threads too closely - kudos on this convincing post @squish5

OK, with this agreement, I am going to tag Jelani in both additional sequences

    found by @MDrass: ACP000fhpj / ACP000fhpl and
    found by @squish5: ACP000fhx2 / ACP000fhx4

I leave the rest of the sequences for now untagged, so that other volunteers can discover them for themselves. We can always tag the rest later.

In any case: Thanks so much for the proposal and the convincing images!

And thanks to the person that moved the thread to the Leopard Discussion Board. 😃
