Here we have another one ( #lion right?, although the fur coloration looks a bit leopardish at the legs) with #vocalization (not the lion?)

I thought about that, but are they this big? Would explain why also the tail looks different.

Yes they are, I have seen skins that could be mistaken for leopards and they are very variable in color

I'm sorry but I disagree. Golden cats are middle sized and not as 'robust' as this cat. They're about twice the size of a domestic cat.

Their tail is not as long. Compare with this picture: http://www.aidforafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/African-golden-cat_Gabon-2.jpg

Yes, the neck and head on this thing are huge, as well.

Could it be a cheetah or is it too robust? I think it is within the distribution range?

No, definitely not a cheetah:). It must be a lion or a leopard. One of these.

this interested me ,so I looked at another explanation, that is the rare spotted lion , includes the black ears , the markings on the legs .

Seems to have dark cheeks & tail, the mouth area and jawline are lighter. What cat has that weird color & pattern? All in all it's odd.

Also those baboons sound very concerned about it's proximity.

could it be a natural hybrid between lion and leopard? Spotted lions (hybrids) have only been bred in zoos.

At least that would be my favorite idea at the moment. Body build looks a bit too robust (head & neck) for leopard.

But I do not know enough about natural (biological) variability in these species.
