"greetings" (genital manipulation, mounting, etc.) are common between guinea baboons it is rare to see a male greeting such a small infant.

also, this is not at all a misguided copulation attempt. they both vocalize (the male is grunting (affiliative), the infant (submissive).

@Snorticus, good question. the infant is "kecking" (sometimes spelled "gecking"), this is a submissive, but not fearful vocalization.

males are very solicitous of infants and you can see that he is quite careful about picking the infant up to carry it.
